Austin Hope Syrah 2014 (Templeton Gap District)

Austin Hope

This bottling, which features an elephant’s painting on the label, has a seductive purple-black core with a violet rim. Intense aromas of muddled blackberry, dried currant and crème de cassis combine with undertones of smoke, leather, Herbes de Provence and dried violets. The entry is dense, yet vibrant with lush, dark fruit and sweet baking spices. The velvety tannins and lively acidity make for a beautifully integrated and age-worthy wine.

Austin Hope Syrah is comprised of the four Syrah clones grown on the Hope Family Estate Vineyard in the Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented separately by vineyard block in 5-ton open-top stainless steel tanks. It aged for 24 months in 63% new French oak.
