“Maggiorina”, a somewhat lighter wine, is produced from grapes grown in old “Maggiorina” vineyards (25 different small fields). These fields are planted mixing 12 different varieties of grapes (mostly Nebbiolo and Croatina but even some white and aromatic grapes) to give a real field blend.
The wine is released after one year of aging in stainless steel tanks and has fresh fruit, as well as the characteristic mineral and spicy taste. The Maggiorina is meant for early drinking and it is certainly a vibrant, fresh wine. But don’t mistake this ease for simplicity. There is a structure to this wine and a lovely braid of fruit and minerality, and it is extremely food friendly.
Nose of cherry, cinnamon, lavender, and just pure Italian herbs. The 40% of Nebbiolo gives the wine enough tannins to face against multiple dishes. Smoky minerality, dried herbs, juicy cherries and tomato plant on the palate. Medium finish.
