🌍 Saint-Chinian, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
🍇 57% Syrah, 26% Grenache, 17% Mourvèdre (Organic)
The vineyard covers 56ha. The vines are planted on slopes at an altitude of 140 meters in the clay-limestone soil. The bedrock is a rare islet of fossilized coral with exceptional properties for draining.
As from autumn 2008, the estate’s 140 hectares has been progressively converted to organic means of cultivation. This seemed an obvious step for the Guy family who has, little by little, seen the emergence of a new equilibrium. Insects, butterflies, birds, vines, orchards, medicinal plants, fields, and scrubland henceforth rub shoulders, thus transforming Château Coujan into an islet of biodiversity.
👀 Medium depth purple color, with slightly violet reflections.
👃Warm and aromatic nose, of great complexity, dominated by aromas of ripe black fruits and spices. Next, come the licorice, some animal and floral notes, as well as a touch of chocolate.
👄 This Saint-Chinian offers a lot of substance in the mouth, fresh acidity, and soft tannins. The flavors of raspberries and sweet spices make it a rather greedy mouth, with a rather long finish.
