Hi guys, today I want to share with you a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz blend I tasted yesterday, this is a real jewel, it won the “Grand Gold Medal” and Jury Prize at the Sélections Mondiales des Vins Canada 2020 edition, and you know what?? It comes from Mexico!!
It is produced by Hacienda la Florida, a boutique winery in the north of Mexico of only 20ha, located in Saltillo, Coahuila. This limited edition is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Shiraz aged for 10 months in French and American oak barrels.
Charming nose of violets, black cherry, chocolate, coffee and a hint of vanilla. The wine has a medium body with a well balanced acidity and some nice cherry and plum flavors.
I have to admit I have been very impressed by this wine. I was not expecting such freshness and elegance combined in a medium body and well integrated oak, but this is another proof that Mexico and the lesser-known Coahuila region can produce awesome quality wines!
I hope to taste other cuvées of Hacienda La Florida very soon. Thanks Bacchus Cult for the discovery!
